- Ozil is expected to miss out after failing to impress Mikel Arteta in recent weeks
Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is set for more misery at the Emirates by being left out of the club’s 25-man Premier League squad, according to reports.
The German playmaker is yet to play a single minute of action in any competition for the Gunners this season having fallen out of favour with manager Mikel Arteta, with the 32-year-old, who earns £350,000-a-week at the club, failing to impress.
But now he is set to sink to a new low in his exile from the team, with the Spanish boss preparing to leave him out of his domestic squad, the Evening Standard report.
Mesut Ozil is reportedly set to be left out of Arsenal’s club’s 25-man Premier League squad
Arsenal will submit their list of players on Tuesday, with Ozil set to join centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos in being omitted, the report adds.
Ozil had been hoping to make a comeback in the Gunners side this season but he is now bracing for a massive blow, and could be set to play no competitive football until the transfer window opens in January.
The Premier League only allow a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players in each squad, with Arsenal possessing 19 – meaning the club are forced to cut two stars from their list.
Ozil hasn’t played for the club since before the Premier League restart in March and his current deal expires at the end of the season.
