Las stock markets of Mexico they closed their first negative day of 2023. The local stock indices fell marginally after a streak of nine straight sessions with gains, which allowed them to record their second positive week this year.

The referential index S&P/BMV IPC from Mexican stock exchange (BMV), which groups the 35 most liquid stocks in the domestic market, lost 0.03% to 53,576.72 points. The FTSE BIVAfrom Institutional Stock Market (Biva), lost 0.01% to 1,118.40 units.

In its streak of nine sessions with gains, compared to a close of 48,463.86 units in 2022, the S&P/BMV IPC accumulated a gain of 10.58 percent until yesterday. Compared to its 1,012.14 units in 2022, the FTSE BIVA came to gain 10.51 percent this year.

Within the reference index, a balance was observed between falls and gains, with 18 values in green and 17 in red. The worst performances were from Regional, which fell 2.40%, followed by Operadora de Sites Mexicanos, which lost 2.28 percent.
