Las stock markets of Mexico are operating in negative territory this Thursday, after a streak of four consecutive sessions with profits. Local stock indices fall after reports of rising inflation that would support more rate hikes.

The leading index S&P/BMV IPC from Mexican stock exchange (BMV) that groups the 35 most liquid shares in the domestic market, loses 0.37% to 50,240.30 points. The FTSE BIVAfrom Institutional Stock Market (Biva), retreated 0.37% to 1,048.65 points.

Within the benchmark, most components are trading at a loss, with 30 stocks in the red and five in the green. The worst performances have the titles of Volaris, which fall 2.59%; Grupo Televisa, with 2.06%, and Megacable, with 1.73 percent.

General inflation in Mexico picked up in the first half of December after six fortnights moderating the pace. The national consumer price index rose 7.77% at the annual rate, more than the 7.46% registered in the second half of November.
