the mexican company Quartuxdeveloper and operator of electricity storage systems, received an international fund of 4 million dollars from the company Revolve Renewable Power Corporationspecialized in developing power generation projects renewable energy in North America.
The capital will be for the installation of a storage system with a capacity greater than 3 megawatt hours in a hotel chain in Cancun, on the Yucatan peninsula. Quartux will take care of maintenance for the daily operation and optimization of the system for 10 years, including routine care.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with Revolve on a strategic project that will open the door to many opportunities and further strengthen our position as leaders in energy storage in Mexico and Latin America,” said Alejandro Fajer, Director of Operations at Quartux.
In this sense, Eric Hickert, Executive Director of Revole, pointed out that his team is very pleased to sign the first battery storage as a service agreement: “Adding more contracted capacity to our growing distributed generation business. We are also particularly excited about partnering with Quartux and look forward to working with them on similar projects in the coming months.”
This contract is broken down into an investment of 4 million dollars, of a total of 100 million dollars for installations projected by the company.
Quartux is a company that offers intelligent equipment that uses lithium batteries, which regulates electricity consumption, especially during the hours of greatest demand for CFE, in addition to reducing the client’s polluting footprint. Among the advantages of this storage system is that energy consumption can be reduced by up to 40% on the bill, especially for large industrial companies.
The project will start operations in the first quarter of 2023 and will add to the recurring revenue base established by Revolve and Quartux in Mexico.
This investment model is based on distributed generation, which is an approach to supplying energy through the deployment of tools for consumers, especially solar and battery storage technologies.
Generation and storage units are typically installed on rooftops or near the consumer, providing electricity directly to the customer, which is why the system is often described as “behind-the-meter power,” as opposed to the standard grid system. This provides advantages both in terms of profits and responsibility in caring for the environment, which is essential for the development of the country.
