Citizens whose first surname begins with the letter “B” and were born in the month of May will be selected to integrate as officials the boxes for the referendum to revoke the mandate to be held on April 10.
It is expected that next Monday, January 31, the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) will formally issue the call to hold said consultation.
In plenary session this Wednesday, May 26, the plenary session of the General Council of the INE carried out the insulation of the letter, from which, based on the first surname, the citizens who will integrate the polling station boards will be selected for the 2022 mandate revocation process for the President of the Republic elected for the constitutional period 2018-2024.
It was determined that citizens whose first surname begins with the letter “B” and were born in the month of May will be called primarily.
During the session, the preliminary report of the Executive Directorate of the Federal Register of Electors was presented to the Executive Secretariat regarding the verification of the percentage of signatures of support from the citizens required for the revocation of the mandate.
The president of the INE, Lorenzo Córdova, said that the revocation of the mandate will be a reality on April 10, and now it is only necessary to define how it will be carried out due to the lack of budget. He said that 3 million 027,845 signatures were valid and are enough to call the consultation exercise.
Likewise, in 24 entities of the Mexican Republic, the requirement of 3% of their Nominal List was met. Once these requirements have been met, the INE will adhere to the provisions of article 126 of the annex to the Mandate Revocation Guidelines, which establishes that once 3.5% of valid support has been reached, verification must be suspended.
“With the results that we have today, which will have to be updated in the report that the executive secretary will present to us next Monday and that will have legal validity, we can say that the revocation of the mandate goes. (…) The National Electoral Institute will carry out the mandate revocation exercise on April 10, by virtue of the fact that 3% of the citizens on the nominal list have been exceeded, having lost confidence in the President of the Republic as the Constitution says, they have requested this exercise.
“The cost of the revocation has been reduced, it is not ideal, but it has been reduced in response to the unprecedented circumstance in which the Chamber of Deputies placed this institution in a total amount of 3,306 million to be able to carry out the same with the extremes that it says the law. In other words, today there is a shortfall of 1,738.94 million pesos that have been requested from the Ministry of Finance and we are still waiting for the response from this institution, which will have to arrive no later than the 31st of this month. Hopefully the INE will be allowed to comply with what the law establishes, the will of the INE has been made clear (…) The INE does want to exercise the revocation of mandate as required by law”, he mentioned.
Morena asks to conclude the review of signatures
Morena’s representative before the INE, Mario Rafael Llergo, asked the INE to complete the verification of the more than 7 million signatures that are still pending review of their validation.
It should be noted that in the preliminary report of the verification of the percentage of support signatures, it was announced that the support records presented signatures of 572 people who are in prison and 15,192 of people who have already died.
“Once the percentage of 3% of the nominal list has been reached, the verification and sampling activities must be terminated, because this institute cannot go against its own determinations and should complete the verification stage,” said Mario Rafael I’m here.
In this regard, the General Council of the INE agreed to end the verification of signatures, but due to the lack of budgetary resources for the revocation of the mandate.
