Mexico registered 532 new deaths due to Covid-19, a daily number of deaths not seen since the beginning of October 2021 when the end of the third wave of the pandemic in the country was in sight. Given this, the death toll rose to 304,308 deaths.
The Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday 48,627 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, so the accumulated number of infections in the coronavirus in mexico amounted to 4 million 779,296 infections.
In the technical report on the progress of the epidemic in the country, the federal agency estimates 296,349 active cases, that is, people who presented symptoms of Covid-19 in Mexico in the last 14 days, in the framework of the fourth wave of infections, attributed by experts to the appearance of the variant Omicron.
Meanwhile, 3 million 853,156 people have recovered after suffering from the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, according to official data.
Regarding hospital capacity, the occupancy of general beds increased one percentage point to stand at 45%, while beds with ventilators have an occupancy of 28%, after rising two percentage points, compared to what was reported yesterday.
Vaccination against Covid-19
The Ministry of Health applied 530,261 vaccines against Covid-19 as of Tuesday, January 25, to register a total of 161,997,209 doses supplied since the national vaccination plan began.
The federal government highlighted that 83 million 386,735 people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, of which 76 million 701,452 have a complete schedule.
