Mexico City, the entity that contributes the most to the value of production in construction

During 2021, the Mexico City established itself as the entity that has the greatest participation in the total value of production in the Construction Industryaccording to the Annual Survey of Construction Companies (EAEC) of the previous year.

This Monday, December 5, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) presented the EAEC 2021, where it reported that the production value of construction companies reached a total of 465,000 million pesos, that is, 11.2% higher in current terms. to what was registered in 2020.

“The statistical offer of the EAEC is made up of absolute values ​​of employed personnel, remuneration, expenses for the consumption of goods and services, income for the supply of goods and services, production value, inventories and fixed assets”, can be read in the document of the INEGI.

According to the document, the EAEC registered positive movements in the five items that make up the survey. Here the growths:

Regarding the value of production, the building subsector had the largest participation, with a contribution of 46.7%, followed by the building of works by civil Engineering which contributed 44.1% and specialized jobs for the buildingwith a contribution of 9.2 percent.

In this context, the Mexico City it was positioned as the entity that contributes the most to the value of national production, with a participation of 21.9%, followed by the State of Mexico (12.3%), Nuevo León (10.1%) and Jalisco (6.6%).

Regarding the personnel employed in the buildingduring 2021 there were 554,000 people employed in this industry, that is, an increase of 1.8% compared to 2020.

Within this scenario, the construction subsector of works and engineering civil was the only one that had growth, 6.9%, employing 195,000 people, while construction decreased 0.6% annually with 285,000 people employed and specialized jobs for construction registered 74,000 employees, a decrease of 1.5 percent.

“Building is the subsector that had the greatest participation in the total number of employed personnel in the sector: it represented 51.5% in (in) 2021. The second place was construction of civil engineering workswith a contribution of 35.1%”, pointed out the INEGI.

By entity, Mexico City was the one that contributed the most jobs to the Construction Industry during 2021, with a participation of 14.9%, followed by Nuevo León with 9.6%, Jalisco with 8.3% and Guanajuato, with 4.9 percent.

Inflation increases spending

During 2021, the expenses for consumption of goods and services of the industry of the building they were of the order of 324,000 million pesos, that is, an increase of 10.3% compared to 2020.

Within this subsector, the cost of materials for the building consumed as the main contractor represented the most relevant item of consumption of goods and services, with a contribution of 53.2% of the total for the sector; followed by payments to subcontractors (21.5%); rest of consumptions 19.1% and materials for the building consumed as a subcontractor (6.2%).

In terms of income from the supply of goods and services, during 2021 the sector registered a total of 624,812 million pesos, where building had the greatest contribution, with 48.4%, followed by construction. building civil engineering works (39.4%) and specialized works for construction (12.2%).
