This demand is satisfied mainly with imports, which represent almost 75% of the total supply of corn that Mexico has.
At the end of the October-September season, 16.5 million tons were imported, 3.2 million produced and 2.3 million were in inventory, according to figures from Sader (Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development).
