The Mexican Ministry of Health announced, on Thursday evening, that it had recorded 6,726 cases and 698 new deaths from the Coronavirus in the country, which is facing high levels of deaths due to the pandemic.
The Ministry stated, in a new statistic, that the death toll from confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, which causes the “Covid-19” infection, has increased during the past 24 hours, by 6726, compared to 6455, to reach the level of 2182188 cases.
The ministry also stated that during the day it detected 698 deaths from the disease, compared with 789 in Wednesday’s data, bringing the number of pandemic victims in Mexico to 196,606 people, with a lethality rate of 9%, which is one of the highest levels in the world.
Mexico is the 13th country in the world in terms of the number of recorded infections with the Coronavirus, but it ranks 3 in terms of the death toll from the disease.
Health officials in Mexico have expressed concern about the slow pace of supplying the country with vaccines, at a time when rich countries are saving large reserves for them.
At the same time, health sector representatives have repeatedly indicated that the real numbers of infections and deaths due to the Corona virus in the country may be much higher than the official toll.
