The Ministry of Health reported 2,877 new infections and 37 new deaths due to Covid-19 on Monday compared to what was registered yesterday.
In the daily technical report on the advance of the new coronavirus pandemic in Mexico, it is detailed that the number of deaths from this disease amounted to 299,581 deaths, while the accumulated number of confirmed cases increased to 3 million 993,464 infections.
The agency estimates that in the country there are around 47,874 active cases, that is, people who have presented symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days and therefore can transmit this disease.
The states with the highest rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants are:

Meanwhile, 3 million 315,699 people have recovered after suffering from the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Regarding hospital capacity, the Ministry of Health reported that the occupancy of general beds stands at 15%, one percentage point more than what was registered yesterday, while the occupancy of beds with a ventilator for critically ill patients remains at 11 percent. .
After more than 10,000 daily infections were reported during the last week of 2021 for two consecutive days, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador admitted on the morning of January 3 that an increase in infections of the new variant of the coronavirus Omicron, however, stressed that hospitalizations have not increased.
During the press conference this morning at the National Palace, he anticipated that the contagion of the respiratory disease will increase, but assured that the new variant “is not affecting” because “it does not have the severity” of the Delta variant, “which affected us a lot. ”.
Vaccination against Covid-19
At the cutoff on Sunday, January 2, the federal government reported that 175 vaccines against Covid-19 were applied nationwide, to reach a total of 148 million 943,382 doses supplied since the National Vaccination Plan began on December 24, 2020 .
