The best Miami Heat are back. After a complicated 2020-21 campaign, the boys of Erik Spoelstra have started this one projecting security and strength, two qualities that dominated last night in Dallas until certifying a quiet victory by 110-125.
There are clear differences between those in Florida and those in Texas. The former have a balanced squad that was screened yesterday with four players between 22 and 25 points: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro (from the bench). The seconds, as usual, had Luka Doncic their best piece by far. The Slovenian went up to 33 points, but after him only Jalen Brunson shone with 25 points (not the usual).
With the cards on the table, and despite the favoritism of the visitors, Dallas started the night well and was able to get up to 11 points in the first quarter. It was a mirage. Miami scored 42 points in the second to go eight points up at halftime. They would not lose their leadership again, showing at all times the poise that great teams have.
“You want to be able to maximize your offense in all the different facets of the game without feeling that it is something that is being done in turns,” says Spoelstra safistecho because his team was effective in shooting from the field, 3-pointers and free throws (Butler made 15 of 17 ).
First loss at home for Dallas
That’s how it is. Although the feelings transmitted by the Mavericks are not the best, the reality is that until last night they counted their games at the American Airlines Center by victories. Miami was too great a stumbling block to continue with such a dynamic. The Heat have started the season with a great game that has allowed them to reach the top in the Eastern Conference with a 6-1 balance, something they have not achieved since the 2012-13 season, when they were NBA champion for the second time in their history. Jason Kidd knew how difficult it would be to get over them. “I would consider them the best team in the league at the moment,” says the head coach of the Mavs.
Still without Porzingis
Much was expected this season from Kristaps Porzingis, whom Jason Kidd had especially pampered, even going to Latvia to see her home and family. For now it is not being able to be like that. The pivot added his fourth injury game last night and it is unknown when he will return to the market. His loss is joined by Maxi Kleber, who will not be able to play in the next 10 days due to a muscle strain.
