US Vice President Mike Pence expressed his deep sadness at the death of US Capitol Police Officer Brian Secnick, who died of wounds sustained while confronting the riots by President Donald Trump’s supporters on Wednesday in front of the Congress building.
“Karen and I were deeply saddened when we learned of the death of US Capitol Police Officer Brian Siknick,” wrote Mike Pence, through his Twitter account, and we send our deepest sympathy and prayers to his family, friends and fellow officers.

He added: “Officer Brian Seknick is an American hero who sacrificed his life in defense of the Capitol and this nation will never forget or fail to honor the service and sacrifice of Officer Brian Seknick.”
The US Congress police said that an officer named Brian Secnick died of wounds sustained while confronting the riots by supporters of President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the Congress building.
“The officer was responding to the riots, on January 6, 2021, at the Congress headquarters and was wounded during a physical clash with the protesters,” police said in a statement, adding that he died on Thursday.
