The deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Admiral Alexander Karpov, confirmed that armed groups are preventing citizens from leaving through humanitarian corridors in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Aleppo.
He said: “In Syria, the Saraqib and Miznas crossings were opened in the Idlib governorate, and the Abu Zeidan crossing in the Aleppo governorate, with the help of the Russian Center for Reconciliation, to facilitate the exit of those wishing to the people from the militant-controlled areas in the two Syrian governorates.”
He added, “Armed groups in the territories under the control of the Turkish forces prevent citizens from leaving these checkpoints, and impede the movement of people and vehicles under threat of force and arrest.”
Karpov said, “The militants set up roadblocks on the roads leading to the checkpoints, and they also organized marches for their supporters in order to disrupt the resumption of the humanitarian corridors.”
He pointed out that the Reconciliation Center called on the Turkish forces in northern Syria to fulfill their obligations and ensure the free and safe movement of citizens through the exit corridors in accordance with the agreements previously reached.
