(Trends Wide) — Two pilots were hospitalized after each ejected from a military training plane that crashed Sunday in a suburb of Lake Worth, Texas, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.
Police were notified of the accident in the 4000 blocks of the Texas and Dakota trails around 10:53 a.m. (11:53 a.m. Miami time) and upon arrival they found a pilot who had ejected from the trapped military training plane. on power lines, Lake Worth Police Chief JT Manoushagian said during a news conference Sunday afternoon. Another pilot also ejected from the training plane and was found in a nearby neighborhood.
The two pilots were taken to a local hospital for medical attention, the fire department said. Manoushagian said it was unclear which aircraft model or training exercise the pilots were practicing.
None of the homes involved in the accident were directly hit, according to Fire Chief Ryan Arthur. There was some damage in the areas near the houses, it reported.
“This incident could have been a lot worse considering this plane went down in a residential area here in Lake Worth,” Arthur noted.
Three people who were in the homes were treated and discharged at the scene, according to a statement from the public information officer of the Fort Worth Fire Department, Kristen O’Hare.
All fires have been put out at this time. Firefighters, police and other public safety agencies remain on the scene.
Lake Worth is about 8 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
