Milwaukee Bucks’ billionaire co-owner Marc Lasry ‘agrees to SELL his controlling share of team to Cleveland Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam for $3.5billion’ – in the second biggest sale in NBA history
The Milwaukee Bucks appear to be heading for new ownership after reports claimed controlling owner Marc Lasry has agreed to sell his stake in the team to Jimmy and Dee Haslam for an eye-watering $3.5billion.
Lasry has been linked with a sale for the past few months, with initial reports claiming that he was most likely to sell internally to his fellow co-owner Wes Edens.
Now, though, ESPN report that Lasry has agreed a big-money deal with the Cleveland Brown owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam.
The $3.5bn valuation would make the deal the second-highest in NBA history, only short of the recent $4bn sale of the Phoenix Suns to Matt Ishbia.
Lasry bought the team, alongside Edens, from previous owner Herb Kohl for $550million in 2014, and the team have been one of the most successful in the NBA in the years that followed.

Under their ownership, the Bucks won the NBA Finals in 2021, beating the Suns 4-2 with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the team.
The Haslams are currently the sole owners of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, and also part of a group that took over MLS’ Columbus Crew in 2018.
In recent months, they have hit the headlines for controversial reasons after trading for Deshaun Watson and giving him a huge contract at the Browns, despite sexual harassment and assault allegations being levelled against him.
Watson was handed a fully-guaranteed $230million, five-year deal despite being in the process of being sued by more than 22 women over the allegations. Â
Watson missed the first portion of the season, but returned for the final six games of the season, going 3-3 as the Browns finished 7-10 overall.
