Ministry of Economy appoints Alejandro Encinas as the new Undersecretary of Foreign Trade

The Secretary of Economy, Rachelpresented this Friday to Alejandro Encinas Najera as the new Undersecretary of Foreign Trade Luis Abel Romero Lopez as Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce.

“With this team, the dialogue within the Government of Mexico is strengthened, which is fundamental and indispensable for the coordinated elaboration of the responses to the consultations of the T-MECthat privileges a dialogue and a negotiation with legal arguments”, said the Ministry of Economy in a press release.

The statement indicated that the work and commitment of the Ministry of Economy is to facilitate and guarantee the investment of national and foreign companies, especially at a time when the relocation of supply chains and the strengthening of regional markets have modified the economy. world. The objective is to promote economic activity at the service of the people of Mexico.

“Growth yes, but with a greater distribution of income, more formal jobs and decent wages for the well-being of Mexicans, these are the guiding objectives of our institution,” said the agency.

Alejandro Encinas Nájera has a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with a master’s degree in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a doctorate in Social Sciences and Humanities from the Autonomous Metropolitan University.

From 2014 to 2018 he was General Director of Strategic Research at the Belisario Domínguez Institute of the Senate of the Republic.

Since the beginning of the current administration, as head of the Labor Policy and Institutional Relations Unit of the Ministry of Labor, he has served as a point of contact for the administration of the labor chapters of trade agreements.

He was in charge of negotiating disputes within the framework of the T-MEC Rapid Response Labor Mechanism, all resolved through negotiation and agreement, without the need for arbitration panels or trade sanctions.

His most recent publications include “T-MEC and its Rapid Response Labor Mechanism: An action guide for Mexico” and “Mexico: The transition to labor democracy.”

For his part, Luis Abel Romero López has a degree in Economics from the Universidad Iberoamericana.

In his last position, he served as General Administrator of Collection in the Tax Administration Service (SAT), being responsible for designing and implementing strategies aimed at promoting the collection and recovery of tax credits to strengthen tax revenues and in this way, contribute with the development and follow-up of the priority programs of the Government of Mexico.

At the beginning of this administration, he served as Head of the Unit in the Mayor’s Office of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. He was also the Technical Coordinator of Programming and Budgetary Control of Personal Services at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and has held various positions within the Federal Public Administration, particularly in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the Ministry of Public Education. .
