Mexico added this Monday 146 new deaths due to Covid-19, so the number of deaths from the pandemic in the country increased to 312,965.
In the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health registered 7,831 new infections of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, to reach a cumulative 3,300,537 confirmed cases in the country.
Meanwhile, the health authorities estimated around 91,858 active cases, that is, people who have presented Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days. It should be noted that this is the lowest figure recorded since the beginning of January, at the beginning of the fourth wave of infections, whose increase was attributed to the appearance of the Omicron variantcharacterized by being more contagious than the rest of the variants detected so far.
The Ministry of Health explained that the states with the highest rate of active cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants are:
- Colima
- Baja California Sur
- Mexico City
- Tlaxcala
- Nayarit
- Aguascalientes
- Queretaro
- Campeche
- Hidalgo
- Puebla
According to the daily technical report on the progress of the epidemic in Mexico, hospital occupancy at the national level is 76% less than that recorded in the second spike in cases in January 2021.
General bed occupancy remained at 30%, unchanged from what was reported yesterday, while general beds have an occupancy rate of 22 percent.
Vaccination progress against Covid-19
The federal government reported that as of Sunday, February 13, 192,851 vaccines against Covid-19 were supplied, for a total of 172,673,715 doses applied since the vaccination strategy began on December 24, 2020.
Of the 84 million 112,878 people immunized, 77 million 952,732 have complete schemes.
This February 14, the Government of Mexico City began the application of the booster dose for people between 30 and 39 years of age.
