Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Rudy Gobert is fined $25,000 for blasting ‘bulls***’ officiating, while head coach Chris Finch is handed a $15,000 fine by the NBA for his criticism
Minnesota Timberwolves star center Rudy Gobert and head coach Chris Finch have both been fined for criticizing officials after Wednesday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns.
The NBA announced that Gobert was fined $25,000, while Finch was fined $15,000.
Following the loss on Wednesday Gobert told reporters that he believed the referees were intentionally making calls to put the Timberwolves at a disadvantage.
”It’s bulls***. Bulls***. It’s really not fair. Every night. I have been in this league for 10 years, and I try to always give the benefit of the doubt, but it is hard for me to think that they are not trying to help (the Suns) win tonight,’ said Gobert.
‘It is hard for me to think that they didn’t try to have the Warriors win the other night or the Sacramento Kings the other night.

Head coach Chris Finch was also fined for complaining about the officiating against the Suns
‘It is just so obvious as a basketball player. I have been in this league for so long, and it is disrespectful.’
Phoenix had been given 27 free throws in the game compared to the 12 that Minnesota received. Gobert himself was also whistled for five fouls which certainly increased his frustration.
Finch also complained about the disparity in the number of free throw attempts when he said: ‘They went to the line 27 times and we went to the line 12 time. Sitting up here and talking about it must have worked for them.’
Finch was referencing the recent comments by Suns coach Monty Williams who recently made similar complainants following a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Timberwolves are currently 39-38 and tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for seventh place in the NBA Western Conference.
Minnesota’s next game will be against the Lakers on Friday night and it will be interesting to see how the referees call the game after the recent complaints.
