In Niger, Mohamed Abul Azoum, 60, the candidate of the ruling National Democratic Assembly, was declared the winner in the presidency.
According to the results announced by the President of the Electoral Commission, Izaka Suna, Abu al-Azoum received 57.65% of the vote, while the opposition candidate, former President Mahamani Othman, received 44.25%.
Abu Al-Azoum is considered the first Arab to reach the presidency of Niger, and he is a Sunni Muslim, and he speaks languages, Arabic, Hausa, Toubou, Kanuri, French and English fluently.
Abu Al-Azoum descended to Al-Mayyasah, who is from the Arab tribe of Awlad Suleiman of Libyan origins, which in turn goes back to the Arab tribes of Bani Salim, Al-Adnaniyah, Al-Qaysiya in Najd Al-Hijaz.
