Monkeypox, present in 32 states

The Ministry of Health (SSA) of Mexico indicated that this week the positive cases for monkeypox increased to 2,468 and, for the first time since the infections began in the country, the 32 entities of the territory presented cases.

In the country, until October 17, there were 4,130 people who met the characteristics of a probable case, but thanks to laboratory tests, the disease was confirmed in 2,468 people, while 1,344 patients were ruled out.

These figures reflect that 59.7% of people who have or show symptoms related to the disease turn out to be positive for monkeypox.

At the moment, the health authorities indicated that three people who died during their medical care had lesions compatible with monkeypox, although it was reported that these deaths are being analyzed by experts in the field of infectology to determine if their death is attributable, or no, to infection with the monkeypox virus.

Concentration

The Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE) reported that the entity that registers the most positive cases in the Mexican Republic is Mexico City with 1,491 cases; Jalisco, with 279, and the State of Mexico with 252, follow as the three entities with the most infections. Durango, who had no case, joins the list with an infection.

So far, according to the SSA, most cases have been recorded in men (98%) and the age range with the highest percentage of positives is between 30 and 39 years with 46.8% of all positives.
