EL PASO, TX – KFOX14/CBS4 — More troops arrived today in Fort Bliss in support of ongoing border operations Saturday afternoon.
Army officials did not share how many troops arrived at the Biggs Army Airfield.
This is the second arrival of troops in El Paso this week.
Earlier in the week, the Pentagon announced that 1.500 troops would be sent to the southern border in El Paso and San Diego.
The deployment was in response to President Donald Trump’s executive orders cracking down on immigration.
According to the Associated Press, the additional 1,500 troops would be added to the current total of 2,500 National Guard and Reserve troops already stationed at the border.
