Morena will reactivate the impeachment process against Moreno Cárdenas

The president of the Political Coordination Board of the Chamber of Deputies, Ignacio Mier Velazco, announced that before December 15, the closing date of the session of the Chamber of Deputies, they plan to move forward with the impeachment process against the national president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas.

On the subject, Mier Velazco denied that it was a threat against the PRI leader for the rejection of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s electoral reform, as he asserted that the impeachment process against the PRI legislator is the same that was carried out against the former deputies Mauricio Toledo and Saúl Huerta.

“These are times that are established. I said it from the beginning. The same thing happened to the other four cases of declaration of provenance that were made last year, exactly the same,” said Mier Velazco.

The deputy from Morena added that this is a process with jurisdictional characteristics that has time limits, and no later than December 15, the members of the Investigating Section must request to go to the next stage.

“Once they know the file, the arguments stage comes in which both the Campeche Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the defense of deputy Moreno, will have to present all those arguments and resources that they consider necessary,” he explained.

The case is currently in the investigating section, where they are aware of the file promoted by the Campeche State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), who accused Alejandro Moreno, former governor of said entity, of the crimes of illicit enrichment, reason for the for which the Legislative branch was requested to withdraw his procedural immunity to continue with the legal case.

They reject agreement

Meanwhile, the PRI coordinator in San Lázaro, Rubén Moreira, reported that the Investigating Section has not been summoned nor is there an agreement to address the request for impeachment against Alejandro Moreno

The PRI deputy and member of the Investigative Section, which is in charge of discharging the requests for relief, asserted that the members of this instance have not been summoned nor is there an agreement to address the case of the request presented by the Campeche Prosecutor’s Office against deputy Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas (PRI).

Rubén Moreira also pointed out that the Instructing Section is governed by the times indicated on the calendar, “and the calendar says that any procedure has to be resolved in parts.”

And when questioned by the press about whether what Mier Velazco declared could be interpreted as a threat or pressure on the PRI bench in view of the vote on the constitutional reform in electoral matters, which is expected to be addressed in plenary session next week The PRI deputy replied that he does not see any threat or pressure in it.

“We do not see any threat. We already have our position established, we are going in the no, and it is with reasons, it is not only the issue of saying no, we gave four fundamental reasons. There hasn’t been any pressure,” he said.

“We no longer argue about things that are not. Next week we will be in the no, we have our reasons that are weighty, ”she added.
