On Wednesday and Thursday, Moroccan security in the northeastern city of Nador managed to thwart an international drug smuggling operation and seized 4 tons and 762 kg of the drug Shira (hashish).
A statement by the Moroccan General Directorate of National Security stated that these large shipments of drugs were seized in two successive operations, the first was carried out in the area of Awlad Amgar in the Driouch region, and resulted in the seizure of 70 packages of the drug Shira, with a total weight of two tons and 552 kilograms, while the second operation was carried out in a roundabout. Tizga Ajdir in the same region and enabled the reservation of 67 additional packages, weighing two tons and 210 kilograms, bringing the total seized shipments to 4 tons and 762 kilograms of drugs.
The source added that the inspections carried out on the sidelines of these security operations resulted in the seizure of logistical equipment and mechanisms involved in international drug smuggling, consisting of 5 cars, a motorcycle, a rubber boat and two marine engines.
The Directorate confirmed that the security forces managed to arrest a 17-year-old person suspected of being linked to this criminal activity.
The statement indicated that joint security operations between the Judicial Police and the interests of the General Directorate are continuing to identify the rest of those involved.
