Social media has been set alight by footage of a woman toting a Louis Vuitton bag with a ‘Byron Bay’ logo.

Instagram account Lords of Byron Bay uploaded a user-submitted video on Sunday of a woman leaving a local restaurant with the $4,650 Neverfull MM bag on her arm.

The limited-edition tote has the trendy coastal town’s name printed in yellow on a blue gradient background, and a large turtle keychain swings from its shoulder strap.

Users slammed the ocean-themed bag, labelling the look ‘tacky’ and ‘cringeworthy’.

‘Good lord the place is just a haven of show offs,’ one person groaned, while another added: ‘Wouldn’t ya feel a bit funny rolling around with it hanging off ur shoulder?’

‘She is one of only 50 w**kers that bought one. They look so bad,’ a third wrote.

Despite usually being found on the shelves of souvenir shops, it seems Australia’s hottest influencers are wearing luxury items emblazoned with the names of tourist destinations simply to make fashion statement.

At the fore of this bizarre trend is P.E Nation founder Pip Edwards, who debuted the ‘Bondi’ version of the Neverfull MM tote on Instagram earlier this month.

Retailing for a whopping $4,650, Pip’s ‘Bondi’ bag features a pink and yellow gradient design, and is adorned with a hibiscus-themed keychain.

Pip bragged about her new purchase, posting several photos of the bag online.

The activewear guru, 41, also shared a picture of herself posing with the Louis Vuitton paper shopping bag she’d used to carry the tote, captioning the post: ‘Easter bunny goodness.’

It’s unclear whether Louis Vuitton will extend its product offering to include the names of other Australian beach destinations, such as Cronulla or Surfers Paradise.
