Mother of gentleman, 19, murdered by girlfriend, 22, claims her son was way too ‘ashamed’ to report abuse

The mother of a younger person who was stabbed to demise by his ‘controlling and coercive’ girlfriend has discovered he felt ‘too ashamed’ to go to police about her ongoing abuse.

Tai O’Donnell, 19, from Croydon, south London, was a well known teen with aspirations to turn into a music producer when he fell into the clutches of Kamila Ahmad, then aged 22, in summer 2020.

Despite standing at just 5ft tall and with a notably substantial voice, Ahmad already had a string of 11 convictions to her title, together with battery, robbery and assault, and had earlier stabbed a boyfriend in 2015, The Times stories.

Tai’s devastated mom Stacey O’Donnell revealed how the 6ft 2in college student doted on his 4 young siblings and was a reliable confidante to his large circle of pals.

Mrs O’Donnell explained: ‘I’d observed his pressure. But I built the improper assumption that it was just an regular toxic romantic relationship. There was practically nothing normal about it. It was really serious abuse. My son did not want to die.’

She claimed Tai felt too embarrassed to notify law enforcement that he was being attacked by his girlfriend – who rarely reached his chest in peak.

‘Tai wasn’t a timid boy,’ she mentioned. ‘He experienced a solid spirit. Under no circumstances in a million decades would I have imagined that he would end up in a circumstance like this.

‘He was a youthful, well known boy, he didn’t want to be seen as an individual who was getting terrorised by a female. He was embarrassed.’

The youngster was a university student at Croydon School with goals of achieving the major of the tunes market when good friends introduced him to Ahmad, who experienced a reputation of getting a ‘bad girl’.

He once called his mom in the middle of the evening frightened soon after Ahmad commenced banging on his front doorway. When family members arrived, Ahmad was inside of and Tai insisted almost everything was okay.

Mrs O’Donnell said Ahmad would threaten suicide each time her son talked of ending the romantic relationship and experienced threatened to ‘shank [stab]’ him at other periods.

On March 2, 2021, she went to see her son and his girlfriend in their dwelling and instructed them to conclude their ‘toxic’ marriage once and for all, advising them: ‘The two of you are not good for just about every other.’

As she reported goodbye to her son for what would be the very last time, she claimed: ‘It’s killing me to see you living like this.’

The pair had been overheard arguing later that night and CCTV caught Ahmad swinging her bag in the street and hitting Tai in the encounter at 12.25am.

A neighbour referred to as law enforcement at midday and officers uncovered Tai’s system at the scene. A pathologist judged that had an ambulance been referred to as, Tai in all probability would have survived his injuries.

The judge also turned down Ahmad’s narrative that she was the target of domestic abuse in the romantic relationship, describing her behaviour as ‘controlling and coercive’.

Following Ahmad’s arrest, former boyfriend Karim Hussein, 25, arrived ahead and revealed how he experienced been stabbed by her all through their connection in 2015.

Tai’s mom, who attended court every working day dressed in black, was praised by the judge for her composure and ‘quiet dignity’ during the proceedings.
