Mother reveals one-step trick to unblocking the toilet

This is the moment a mother shows TikTok users how to unblock a toilet by using washing up liquid. 

The British mother, known as @capricesmum on social media, is filmed deliberately blocking the loo with toilet paper so she can show off her new hack. 

Then she tells viewers to get some washing up liquid and squirt some at the back of the toilet. 

The social media user adds: ‘Leave for 30 seconds to a minute, flush, and the blockage is gone.’

At the end of the video she is proven right after the toilet paper disappears and the toilet is once again unblocked. 

The video, captioned  ‘My brother taught me this & it works EVERYTIME’, has garnered more than eight million views and almost 3,000 likes. 

Some social media users were blown away with the discovery while others were more skeptical.

One person commented: ‘I sent this to my brother . He’s a repeated offender of clogging toilet , Thanks.’

Another added: ‘I am a plumber by trade I will have to try that one,’ while a third wrote:  ‘Trust !!! Been doing this for years.’

Caprice’s Mum’s explanation was the washing liquid acts as a lubricant, making it easier for blockages to pass.

Other commenters were more skeptical, with one putting: ‘I usually just pour scorching hot water and done. Always worked.’

A second added: ‘You can buy a plunger for under $5. So easy for when someone blocks the toilet.’

The social media user then advises people to leave the liquid for 30 seconds to a minute, flush, and the blockage is gone

At the end of the video, when the washing up liquid is used  the toilet paper disappears and her toilet is unblocked

And a third put sarcastically: ‘If there was only a device that we could design to unblock the toilet.’

A fourth wrote: ‘Just tried this and it didn’t work…..any other suggestions.’

And a fifth added: ‘Or better yet. Buy a plunger, the thing used to clear clogs in a toilet, and use a plunger.’

The TikTok mother has 158,200 followers on the platform and uses her page to share lifehacks for other parents.
