Mothers of the disappeared in Mexico demonstrated outside the National Palace

Mothers and relatives of disappeared persons, from different parts of the country, demonstrated this Monday outside the National Palace, to make visible the more than 109,000 people who are still not located in Mexico.

Led by mother seekers, the members of various groups of the disappeared placed dozens of photos and blankets of their relatives on the bars that protect the National Palace, in addition to painting their names on the floor.

While they also demanded that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador recognize the crisis of disappearances in the country and implement actions to search for their loved ones.

They also displayed a huge canvas with the legend: “truth, justice and non-repetition”.

Among the groups present at the demonstration were those from Veracruz, Puebla, Guerrero, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, among others.

Meanwhile, during the protest, relatives set up a booth where they talked about their cases, and demanded concrete actions from the federal government to reach justice.

In addition to remembering that official figures show that since 1964 and until December 19, there are already 109,188 missing people and not located in Mexico. At the same time, they accused that despite the exorbitant number, there are not enough resources for the search commissions for their loved ones.

PROTEST IN OTHER STATES

In Veracruz, relatives of disappeared persons, members of the Solecito collective, placed the “Tree of Pain”, in protest against the failure to locate thousands of people in the state.

It was said that despite the fact that the city council refused to give them permission, the “Solecito” Collective placed the so-called “Tree of Pain”, in order to make visible the absences in their homes in the face of the December holidays.

Said Tree of Pain will be in place until December 24 and contains the faces of missing persons

The Veracruz city council would have offered the mothers, sisters and wives of the Solecito Collective to place the “tree of pain” in the Plaza de la Soberanía, on one side of the Manuel Ávila Camacho boulevard, however, the members refused and left. They settled in the city square.

Meanwhile, in Xalapa, Veracruz, activists also placed a memorial with the faces of their relatives in the Plaza Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada of this capital to remember their disappeared.
