A Chinese fighter pilot “executed an unsafe maneuver” whilst shut to a U.S. Air Pressure airplane, United States officials claimed Thursday.
The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command explained in a statement that the fighter pilot flew in front of and in 20 feet of the nose of the RC-135 aircraft the U.S. pilot was traveling on Dec. 21, 2022.
The American pilot was flying lawfully over the South China Sea, the command said, but was compelled to “choose evasive maneuvers” to steer clear of a collision. Neither pilot has been determined.
“The U.S. Indo-Pacific Joint Pressure is focused to a free and open up Indo-Pacific location and will proceed to fly, sail and run at sea and in worldwide airspace with thanks regard for the protection of all vessels and plane less than global legislation,” officials mentioned. “We count on all countries in the Indo-Pacific location to use global airspace safely and in accordance with intercontinental regulation.”
Video clip of the incident was shared by the command, and the temporary clip shows the Chinese airplane approaching the American jet just before the pilot starts evasive maneuvers.
