MrBeast is back at it with his mega giveaways — this time, he’s offering a free Tesla to a random follower on Meta’s new Twitter rival, Threads.
“To celebrate Threads launching, I’m gonna give this Tesla to a random follower in 48 hours! Rethread so people are aware,” the popular YouTuber said in a Threads post on Thursday. The post has since been liked more than 294,509 likes at press time.
Some followers outside the US have asked if the car will be sent to them if they get picked. It remains unclear if the giveaway is restricted only to MrBeast’s US-based followers.
Meta’s saw 30 million sign-ups on its first day, per a Threads post by Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, made his first post on Threads on Thursday. He was the first person to reach a million Threads followers after the platform went live, per a listing on the Guinness World Records.
Donaldson, as of press time, has 2.4 million followers on Threads. That is lower than the 21.6 million follower count he has on his Twitter account, though that could soon change with his latest Tesla giveaway.
This is not the first time the YouTube megastar has given away huge prizes. Insider previously reported that he gave away at least $3.2 million in cash in 2022, based on all the YouTube videos he uploaded.
And it’s not just money. In a video posted in November 2022, Donaldson gave away a jet worth $2.5 million to the winner of an endurance challenge. Then in March 2023, he posted a TikTok video where he tipped a server with a “brand new car.”
Representatives for Donaldson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular working hours.
