(CNN) — YouTube star MrBeast said on Sunday that he was invited to join a submersible journey to the wreck of the Titanic, but declined.
“I was invited earlier this month to ride the submarine, I said no. It’s a little scary to know that I could have been there.” tweeted MrBeast this Sunday morning.
Although he did not specify whether the invitation was for the fatal voyage on the Titan submersible that ended in a catastrophic implosion, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, shared a piece of text from someone asking him to join an exploration.

“Also, I’m going to the Titanic in a submarine at the end of this month,” the individual wrote. “The team would be delighted to have you.”
CNN has reached out to Donaldson’s representatives for comment.

An investigation is underway into what led to the implosion of OceanGate’s submersible Titan, which killed all five people on board during its descent to visit the Titanic’s wreckage last week.
The crew members who died were OceantGate CEO Stockton Rush; British businessman Hamish Harding; the French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet; and Pakistani-born businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, who were British citizens.
