Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, a leader in the Houthi “Ansar Allah” group, played down the usefulness of the calls to stop the war in Yemen, stressing that peace can only be achieved through “practical steps and signed agreements.”
Al-Houthi wrote in a tweet that “peace is not made by invitations, but by signed agreements, and any call that we do not see applied to the field is an expression of feeling only, and it is possible to exchange feeling with a feeling if we confirm the safety of the destination only for those who call for peace, and exchange practical steps to stop the aggression and siege with steps.” A simultaneous operation if agreed and signed. “
Peace is not made by invitations, but by signed agreements
Any call that we do not see applied in the field is an expression of feeling only
And it is possible to exchange a feeling only if we make sure of the safety of the destination for those who call for peace
And we shall exchange practical steps to stop the aggression and siege with simultaneous practical steps, once agreed upon and signed– Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi (@Moh_Alhouthi) February 10, 2021
Al-Houthi’s tweet comes to reinforce the statements of the Foreign Minister in the Houthi government, Hisham Sharaf, who confirmed Tuesday that the “Ansar Allah” attacks against Saudi Arabia and the forces loyal to the Yemeni authority would stop “when the Riyadh-led coalition stops its strikes on Yemen.”
Al-Houthi’s tweet also coincides with the call of the joint Yemeni forces affiliated with the legitimate government to withdraw from the Sweden agreement on Hodeidah in western Yemen, in response to the Houthi escalation in the Marib governorate in northeastern Yemen.
