An Australian mum has apologised for holding up the checkouts at Kmart – after buying $1300 worth of school supplies.
Tanya Glancy and her 13-year-old son Samuel, from Logan in Brisbane‘s west, stripped the shelves of supplies, loading five trolleys with bags, pencils, shoes and other back-to-school essentials.
Samuel initiated the shopping trip, which filled two cars, buying the supplies to give to families who can’t afford to fit kids out at the beginning of the school year.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia the altruistic teenager said he ‘likes seeing people smile’ as his mum said he always looks for ways to ‘make a difference’.
‘I was shocked we were able to get so much with $1300,’ he said.
Last year the teenager collected over 20,000 items for his school supply drive – this year is even bigger.
The teenager collects supplies from his neighbourhood – and put $1500 toward buying extras for kids in need.
‘He makes a calendar every year and donates proceeds to the Starlight Foundation – but this year he kept the money to buy extra supplies, because there are a lot of families doing it tough because of Covid,’ Tanya said.
The shopping trip took the mother and son over an hour, and they had their fair share of strange looks.
‘Mostly people just wanted to know what we were doing with it all, everyone was really nice,’ Tanya said.

The supplies will be given to school chaplains to distribute to Brisbane families in need
The staff members opened a checkout for Samuel when they saw him approaching with five trolleys.
The supplies will be given to school chaplains to distribute to families in need – some will also be sent to Vanuatu.
There are school shoes, pencils, pens, books, lunch boxes, drink bottles and backpacks in the huge haul.
