A mother-of-two who’s known for sharing cleaning tips online has revealed how to make old stainless steel appliances shine like new.

Carolina, from Perth, shared a video on TikTok and made a natural spray to clean her household products.

She combined one part vinegar and one part water in a bottle and sprayed the liquid onto a microfibre cloth to polish her coffee machine.

The 1:1 ratio has been used as a quick and easy cleaning method for years and is a suitable alternative to using harsh chemicals.

She gently wiped down the appliance with the damp cloth to clean and polish it, leaving an instant sparkle.

The TikTok video shared on March 18 has since been viewed more than 288,000 times and received praise from social media users.

The simple tactic can be used to clean a wide variety of kitchen items, including pots, pans, kitchen sinks, tableware and cutlery.

Vinegar is a common natural product used to kill bacteria and disinfect surfaces as it’s made from acetic acid.

Other TikTok users agreed and said they too use vinegar when cleaning items found around the home.

‘Vinegar is awesome to clean almost anything,’ one TikTok user wrote.

‘I find glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth is really good for stainless steel,’ another suggested.

In addition to vinegar, bi-carbonate soda is another natural cleaning products that help kill bacteria and germs from surfaces.

Top ways to use vinegar when cleaning:

Vinegar is nontoxic and eco-friendly, making it the ultimate multipurpose cleaning solution

It’s a great cleaner and disinfectant because it’s made from acetic acid

Acetic acid is a colourless organic compound that gives vinegar its sour taste and pungent smell

Vinegar can be used to clean:

  • Glass
  • Countertops
  • Shower and bathtubs
  • Toilets
  • Floors
  • Dishwashers, ovens and microwaves
  • Laundry
