Despite their success in the group stage, the team’s offense has been modest. Colombia has scored just two goals so far in the tournament, with Óscar Perea and Kener González being the only players on the scoresheet.
In contrast, the squad has demonstrated remarkable defensive strength. Goalkeeper Jordan García has conceded only a single goal, which came from a penalty kick during the final group match against Nigeria, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Historically, Colombia holds a positive record against African opponents in the U-20 category, with three wins, four draws, and only one loss. That sole defeat occurred against Senegal during the 2019 World Cup in Poland. The national team is now seeking its first knockout stage victory in the tournament since hosting the event in 2011.
