SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Skidmore College freshman Ginevra Muratori captured the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Singles Championship, becoming the program’s first singles champion since 2018. The victory highlighted a stellar final day for the Skidmore women’s tennis team, which hosted the tournament.
In the singles championship, Muratori secured a decisive 6-4, 6-2 victory over Victoria Wang of NYU. Her win qualifies her for the upcoming ITA Cup tournament. Earlier in the day, she advanced to the final by defeating RPI’s Kaaviya Kannan 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals. Throughout the tournament, Muratori consistently defeated high-seeded opponents on her path to the title.
Muratori also excelled in doubles play, teaming with fellow freshman Amelie Gonzalez to finish as the runner-up. The pair defeated Kast and Bondarenko of NYU 8-5 in the semifinals, a victory that also secured their spot in the ITA Cup. In the final against Jaiswal and Ridenour of RPI, the Skidmore duo took an early 3-0 lead but could not hold off a comeback, ultimately falling 8-3.
The Thoroughbreds will conclude their fall season by hosting Union for a dual match on Thursday at 6:30 PM at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
