Defending champions Al-Ahly of Egypt suffered a bitter defeat at the hands of their Tanzanian host Simba, with a goal, in the match that brought them together today, Tuesday, in the second round of the first group of the African Champions League.
The owners of the land owe the victory to their Mozambican star, Luis Meccione, who scored the only goal in the match at the 31st minute, with a missile shot from outside the penalty area, which housed the left scissor of Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper.
With this victory, Simba raised his score in the lead to 6 points, while the defending champions Al-Ahly stopped at three points and dropped to third place in Group A.
In the second match in Group A, Al-Merrikh Al-Sudani lost 4-1 to Congolese guest Vita Club.
