This came after a human rights group said earlier, that at least 22 people were killed in the suburb of Hlingthaya, where security forces shot anti-army demonstrators, after unknown persons set fire to a number of clothing factories funded by China.
Myanmar Now reported that the death toll had reached at least 39 people in what was described as the “bloodiest day” since the outbreak of popular protests against the army’s overthrow of the civilian government led by Aung San Suu Kyi on February 1.
