Shoppers were left surprised to see Barbies being reduced from $24.95 to only 50 cents at a local Myer store.

A shopper shared photos of the Myer Parramatta sale with the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, where members noticed the dolls didn’t come clothed.

The dolls were leftovers from a body positivity promotion last year that let children choose a Barbie and then create their own outfit.

Most of the followers appreciated the 98 per cent discount, but not all were as enthusiastic about the sale.

‘They were really charging $25 for a naked Barbie?’ one commenter snarked.

‘Poor Barbie has lost her dignity,’ another remarked.

One woman explained the Barbies were part of a promotion.

‘You could choose your Barbie and then choose your outfit for the doll take it to the counter dress it and MYER would box it as you pay,’ she said.

‘All the Barbie dolls had different shape bodies, hair colours etc.’

‘It was about teaching your kids everybody is different, that not everyone has to dress the same.’

‘They had Barbies with fuller figures, short Barbies basic all different body types and so kids learn we are all human and we are all unique in our own ways.’

Despite the explanation some viewers took a aim at the exposed Barbies.

‘This Barbie looks like the curvy one… or maybe she is still on a diet. Usually they look like very skinny. This one is curvy!’

‘Need to find clothes that will fit in… LOL! Maybe you can find clothes from City Chic then.’

‘We should crowdfund a “Clothing for Barbie” campaign,’ Added another.

The nude Barbies also raised the eyebrows of some critics who thought it was an inappropriate product to sell the kids.

‘Chill everyone! These are from the “make your own Barbies” at Christmas a few years back, (where) you got to pick the doll, type of clothes and name it.’

‘This is obviously left over stock, that they are trying to clear and have run out of outfits.’

Regardless, everyone agreed the Barbie buy was a great bargain.

‘My daughter takes all the clothes off hers anyway and we have a box of clothes she doesn’t use,’ one mum said.

‘What a bargain!’
