The Japanese city of Nagasaki commemorated the 79th anniversary of the US atomic bombing of the city at the end of World War II, which resulted in the deaths of about 70,000 people.
At this year's ceremony, the city's mayor rescinded the invitation to the Israeli ambassador to attend the ceremony, and called for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
