The list of virtues, qualities, skills and abilities that chess develops is so long that it is difficult to find a really complete one. Among those that are not usually mentioned much is the ability to take care of several things at the same time, what is now called multitasking, and which many consider more prevalent among women.
The most suitable type of game to use as an example is that of attacks on opposite flanks. It is true that the concept of running is very present in these types of positions: sometimes it does not matter what material the attacker loses on the other flank if his offense has devastating effects, or checkmate. But the reality is usually much more complicated, because the normal thing is that defensive lances must be interspersed at the right moment to delay the opponent’s counterattack. And there the division of the brain into two parts is exercised a lot.
