As four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka builds momentum this season, she is preparing for the North American hard court swing with new gear from Nike.
In a recent Instagram post captioned “hard court szn but make it cute,” Osaka unveiled a new custom colorway of the Nike GP Challenge 1 tennis shoe. This previously unreleased design features a mesh upper in two shades of blue, accented with “University Gold” overlays and midsoles. Pink laces and outsoles provide a vibrant contrast.
Distinctive details include iridescent Nike Swoosh logos with Japanese characters and Osaka’s personal logo on the tongues. While release information for this specific player-exclusive colorway has not been announced, several versions of the Nike GP Challenge 1 are currently available on Nike.com, with prices ranging from $145 to $170.
Osaka is the face of the Nike GP Challenge 1 line, though it is not her official signature shoe. The model is engineered for high-performance play, incorporating Air Zoom units for cushioning, a stabilizing midfoot plate, and reinforced high-abrasion rubber zones. The 27-year-old frequently debuts exclusive colorways that are popular among both players and fans.
Osaka signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike in 2019 after beginning her career with Adidas. The partnership is reportedly valued at $10 million annually and extends through 2025.
