NATO launched the “Dynamic Manta 2021” military maneuvers in the Mediterranean with the aim of developing air, surface and subsea cooperation for submarine defense warfare.
The NATO Maritime Command stated in a statement that “the exercises, in their 21st edition, are taking place on the eastern shores of Sicily, with the participation of the United States of America, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Greece.”
“The aim of the exercises is to provide all participants with severe war training in order to increase their ability and capabilities to work jointly in defense skills of submarines and surface warfare,” she emphasized.
It indicated that 5 surface ships, 5 submarines and 5 maritime patrol aircraft from 8 countries, in addition to the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, participated in the maneuvers.
The exercises will end on March 5.
