RUdy Gobert and Myles Turner, who were in a fight in the game between the Jazz and the Pacers, are among the four players fined by the NBA as a result of the brawl.
The Jazz pvot was fined $ 35,000 for initiating the altercation, while his Jazz counterpart has been fined $ 25,000 for escalating it. Two other players on the Utah team have been punished. Donovan Mitchell will have to pay $ 30,000 and Joe Ingles, another $ 20,000.
The incident started after Gobert appeared to drag Turner to the ground next to him after he blocked his pitch. As the two got up, the Pacers pushed the Jazz, who hugged his rival to try to throw him to the ground. Mitchell and Ingles joined the fray as members of both teams took to the track. All four were expelled.
The NBA said Mitchell was fined for “escalating an on-court altercation by verbally taunting an opponent,” while Ingles was fined for
“making inappropriate contact” with a referee during the altercation. “All of this could have been avoided simply by drawing a line up front rather than letting aggression build up throughout the game,” Mitchell said. “Referees let guys do too much shit,” lamented Gobert.
