The Toronto Raptors interviewed 15-year NBA veteran and current ESPN analyst J.J. Redick for their coaching vacancy, according to ESPN.
Redick, 38, met with franchise leaders in Toronto recently during the club’s initial round of interviews to replace Nick Nurse, who was dismissed after a 41-41 season.
Other names who have been linked to the Raptors’ wide-ranging coaching search include Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon and NBA assistant coaches Kenny Atkinson, Charles Lee, Kevin Young, Mitch Johnson, Jordi Fernandez and Darko Rajakovic.
Redick, a guard, averaged 12.8 points in 940 games with six NBA teams from 2006-21. The Orlando Magic drafted him with the No 11 overall pick in 2006 out of Duke, where he was a two-time ACC Player of the Year.
He’s also the Blue Devils’ all-time leading scorer, with 2,769 points in his college career and remains the school’s all-time leader in 3-pointers by a wide margin with 457 and free-throw accuracy at 91.2 percent.

In the NBA, Redick’s also played for Milwaukee, the LA Clippers, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Dallas.
He appeared in the NBA playoffs in each of his first 13 pro seasons, got to the NBA Finals with Orlando in 2009 and had a career-high 40-point game for the Clippers in an overtime win over Houston on January 18, 2016.
Injuries limited him to 44 games for the Pelicans and Mavericks in his last season (2021), when he shot 37 percent – the second-lowest mark of his career – from 3-point range.

He also only averaged 7.4 points, the first time he wasn’t a double-digit scorer in more than a decade.
Redick’s currently working on ESPN as an NBA analyst and joined the network in November 2021, just a month after announcing his retirement following a 15-year playing career.
He also launched his own podcast in 2015 and started ThreeFourTwo Productions in 2020.
The name of the company is a reference to the 342 shots that Reddick made every Sunday during the offseason.
The Boston Celtics have previously targeted Redick as an assistant coach, according to NBA Central.
