LeBron James has been reprimanded by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for his obscene celebration of a 3-pointer in a recent game against the Pacers. The Lakers forward scored a momentous basket and reached for his parts in what is known as the big ball celebration.
“For me, winning is enough. Why do you need to do a stupid childish dance and disrespect the other team on the court? It doesn’t make sense. The best of all time don’t dance,” said Jabbar, the all-time leading scorer in history. the NBA, six times champions, another six MVPs of the regular season and that added 19 appearances in the All Star. At 74 years old he is one of the great figures of the League and has the respect of all the players.
LeBron’s gesture is nothing new. Former player Sam Cassell was the first to do so, followed by some other players like Fred VanVleet, current Raptors point guard.
The Lakers forward was sanctioned by the NBA with a fine of $ 15,000. Not much for a millionaire like him. Perhaps the words of a recognized icon like Jabbar have hurt more.
