Luka Doncic the preseason has started as if he had not gone on vacation after being one of the proper names in the Tokyo Games. The Slovenian continues with his particular state of grace and before Los Angeles Clippers it was again the leader of the Dallas Mavericks, which added their second preseason win (122-114) in as many games.
The Slovenian made it clear that he had one of those nights since warming up, when he made a new piece of art in the shape of an unlikely basket. Doncic threw the ball into the air and after letting it bounce, he hit it with his right shoulder and drew on the board., causing delirium among his companions. It was a prelude to what was to come.
Already in the game Doncic put the juggling aside and led the victory of his own, staying at the gates of the triple-double. The former Real Madrid player barely played 18 minutes to finish with 14 points (five of 11 in field goals), eight rebounds, nine assists and one steal of the ball, being the most complete player of the Texan team.
The top scorer for the Mavericks, who ensured the victory with a great last quarter in defense (31-17), was the Canadian Eugene Omoruyi, who finished with 19 points, while Kristaps Porzingis (15+5+4) y Dwight Powell (14) they rounded out the Mavs’ four-man roster with double digits in scoring.
The Clippers, who remain without Kawhi Leonard or Serge Ibaka, did not have the leadership of Paul George, which stayed in only six points in 19 minutes of game. Luke Kennard was the best scorer off the bench with 19 points, while Isaiah Hartenstein left until 16 and Reggie Jackson added 14.
