LThe NBA punished Canadian Dillon Brooks, player of the Memphis Grizzlies, with a one-game suspension on Thursday for his flagrant foul with which he caused a fracture in the left elbow of Gary Payton II, of the Golden State Warriors, last Tuesday.
Brooks was ejected for flagrant type 2 in the second game of the Western Conference semifinals, which ended in a 106-101 victory for the Grizzlies, who tied the series 1-1.
The president of NBA operations, Byron Spruell, ordered a game suspended for Brooks, who will miss next Saturday’s game at the Warriors’ field.
His flagrant came after just three minutes of play in the first quarter of the Grizzlies-Warriors, when he hit Payton II’s arm as he was attacking the basket and caused his hard fall.
Tests on Payton II, the son of former player Gary Payton, revealed a broken elbow that will require at least two weeks off, the Warriors said.
