Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid fined $25,000 for obscene gesture while celebrating and Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is also docked the same amount for tossing mouthpiece
NBA stars Joel Embiid and Steph Curry were both hit with $25,000 fines for their on-court actions this week.
Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, who was snubbed from the East All-Star starters Thursday, was docked for an obscene gesture while celebrating in his team’s victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
After sinking a bucket the 28-year-old turned to the crowd and performed the celebration of wrestler Triple H. Nets star Kevin Durant labeled the celebration ‘trash’ on social media.

Steph Curry was also fined $25,000 by the NBA for tossing mouthpiece in Wednesday’s game
‘There’s no secret that Triple H is my guy,’ the 76ers center said after the game.
‘Obviously, DX, when I used to watch wrestling, those were my guys. Any time I get the chance, I haven’t done it in a while so I just felt like it was a good and-1. I got the ball, I didn’t even see the rim, and I felt like it was deserving of a good celebration.’
The NBA also penalized Golden State Warriors guard Curry for tossing his mouthpiece in his team’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Curry was assessed a technical foul and ejected with 1:14 remaining in the Warriors’ 122-120 win, after scoring a game-high 34 points.
Curry’s teammate Jordan Poole could not help but make fun of the star’s ejection following the game. He could not resist mimicking the mouthguard throw in the tunnel.
Curry was unhappy at what he saw as a poorly-judged 3-point attempt from Poole – and his mouthpiece was launched as a result, leading to his automatic ejection.
Poole secured victory in the final moments and he trolled his teammate, who was waiting for him in the tunnel.
