Toyota Australia has issued an urgent recall for 23,957 cars over fears they have faulty breaks.
The safety recall includes Diesel HiLux and Fortuner vehicles produced between June and December 2018.
Toyota said the strength of the resin piston within the brake booster could degrade due to improper moulding conditions during production.
There are worries this could leave the vehicles with faulty breaks.

‘If this were to occur, repeated operation of the brake pedal may cause the piston to break, potentially causing loss of braking assist and therefore increasing the vehicle stopping distance,’ Toyota said in a statement.
Toyota dealers will inspect the impacted cars and will replace the brake booster assembly if needed.
The service will be free and Toyota estimates replacing the brake booster will take about three hours.
Toyota Australia will contact the impacted owners about the recall by text, email and/or mail to their last known address.
