Nearshoring, work axis in Michoacán for 2023

By 2023, one of the main economic axes of work for Michoacán is to strengthen the attraction of investments, taking advantage of the nearshoring boom, this through integration with the states of the Bajío region, announced the head of the Secretariat of Economic Development ( Sedeco), Claudio Mendez Fernandez.

When presenting next year’s work agenda to the private sector, the head of the agency explained that this regional integration is sought so that the entity becomes more attractive.

He stated that by offering the Michoacán logistics infrastructure and the series of industries that exist in the Bajío; For example, with the state of Guanajuato and its automotive and aeronautical sectors, the arrival of this type of investment can be ensured.

Added to this objective, he explained that for next year the promotion of Michoacán will increase as an ideal destination to invest in this sector; Sedeco will have a higher budget increase.

In this 2022, a budget of 170 million pesos was exercised, by 2023 an increase of 30% will be received, 230 million that will be used mainly for promotion, for the development of the sector.

“The destination Michoacán and its Puerto Lázaro Cárdenas are being promoted, which allows the states of Bajío and the north to better reach the Asian market,” he stressed.

In addition, the head of Sedeco asked the businessmen to meet once a month to work on a work agenda to promote nearshoring in the entity.

Complementary to the first objective of 2023, the detonation of the Lázaro Cárdenas logistics project is sought, where the development of the Bajío I industrial park is located, as well as that of the island of La Palma, recently transferred to the Integral Port System Administration (Asipona) Lazaro Cardenas.

Another of the axes of work for 2023, the official noted, is the formalization of employment, hand in hand with the federal government.

Agreements

In terms of labor support, Méndez Fernández reported that in 2022 Sedeco, through the Social Welfare Directorate, reached agreements for 22.4 million pesos, resources that were due to the 11,234 consultancies provided through the Department of the Attorney General’s Office Labor Defense, from January to September.

Of this total, through the use of alternative means of conflict resolution, 2,267 agreements were reached between the parties and 252 lawsuits were filed before the Local Conciliation and Arbitration Board, seeking to resolve, through conciliation boards, the conflicts between employers and workers.

Three lawsuits were filed before the labor court in which he represented the worker, from the filing of the lawsuit, evidence, to compliance with the award.

It should be remembered that as of October 3 of this year in Michoacán the Labor Conciliation Centers began to function.

In addition, at the beginning of 2022 the Organic Law of the Public Administration of the State of Michoacán was reformed, which provided for the incorporation of the Undersecretary of Labor and Social Welfare and, therefore, of the Social Welfare Directorate to Sedeco.
